Aternity FPI Architecture
The Aternity FPI platform can be deployed on a single server and is comprised of Data Collection Services (Agents), Aggregation Services, Analytic Services and Management Services. This service-oriented architecture enables the Aggregation, Analytic, and Database Services to be decoupled from the Management Services, and scale to support 10s of 1000s of workstations.
Agents
Taking 0.2% CPU utilization on average, and 1% at peak, the Microsoft Certified Aternity Agents passively monitor all the performance metrics associated with the three (3) components that define and impact End User Experience.
Aggregation Services
The Aggregation Services are responsible for the secure, bi-directional communications between the Agents and the Management Services. Aggregation Services provide automatic failover, can be added on the fly, provide increased security with placement in the Firewall DMZ, and support advanced compression algorithms reducing the overall bandwidth consumption for groups of co-located Agents (6-8 Bytes/Second per Agent).
Analytic Services
The Analytic Services utilize state-of-the-art mathematical models to automatically generate performance baselines, with high and low thresholds, for any/every business process by location, configuration, LDAP defined department, role, time of day, day of week and week of month. When performance deviates from the performance baselines, the Analytic Services detect a problem is occurring, dynamically isolate the impacted applications, business processes and users, and automatically identify the business impact and probable cause.
Management Services
The Management Services are responsible for the administration, configuration, visualization, reporting and integration of the platform.
